Denis Brihat is dead. Solange, his wife, has just announced it to us.
It is the last of the great dinosaurs of French photography which is disappearing.
An unusual character.
Jean-Jacques and I had the chance to spend time with him for several summers in a row.
I remember the last lunch in their house in the Luberon on the heights of Bonnieux with an extraordinary view.
The leg of lamb on the wood fire in the fireplace a little overcooked will gently reproach Solange, the vegetables and salads from the garden, one of his passions and then he begins to tell the story of his coming to the region and then time no longer counts.
His arrival in the Luberon, the cabin of the first times, the people of the region, this house that he built end to end, his workshop the students, and then all these people came to visit it.
We leave, Jean-Jacques and I, very moved by these confidences of a life.

The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday December 7, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the lower church of Bonnieux, followed by burial in the village cemetery.
