A Time Capsule of the American Feminist Landscape, this body of work identifies the key women who were the first to create opportunities in fields traditionally dominated by men. Through their success in the arts and sciences, politics and law, mathematics and athletics, they paved the way for future generations of women in America and around the world. Lynn Gilbert’s iconic portraits memorialize the courageous women who championed the right to equality in the workplace during the second wave of feminism that transformed the American landscape.
The women were originally photographed in the late 1970s for her book Particular Passions: Talks with Women Who Have Shaped Our Times.
