The world-famous photography company Ilford Imaging went bankrupt in December 2013. In 2014, SEPT.info published a multi-part story on the event. We’re reposting it now since it has been nominated for the Swiss Press Awards 2015, which will be held on April 15th in Berne.
“My staff wanted me to turn the machine back on and keep working. I said ‘No, we’re stopping everything. Everybody go home.’” Pierre Maudonnet was a team leader at Ilford Imaging. The Swiss company went bankrupt on December 9th, 2013. Many people devoted themselves body and soul to the company for decades, keeping alive a craftsmanship unlike any other in the world.
