Founded in 1958, the Institute of Higher Studies of Social Communications (IHECS) located in the heart of Brussels has had, since its inception, a specific feature the teaching  and practice of the media, thus aiming at effective communication. The school leads to a Master’s degree in Applied Communication.

Among the various media taught, photography has always been fundamental and, although IHECS is not a school of photography, many former students have continued to practice it professionally as photojournalists, documentary photographers and advertisers. or as visual artists.

That’s why the current photography professors have taken the initiative to mark this year’s 60th anniversary with a major exhibition gathering these elders since the first promotions which promises a considerable mix of genres.

The IHECS asked André Soupart, filmmaker and photographer, honorary professor, who had many of them as students, to be the curator of this exhibition “60 years / 60 photographers”.

Indeed, many have been awarded and published. Some have created collectives, others have joined recognized agencies.
