Escale à la Grange aux Belles : Sadak Souici : In the Niger Delta, hunger threatens the population

As part of the series of exhibitions dedicated to emerging photojournalists, “l’Escale à la Grange aux Belles – Images du réel” features the series Dans le Delta du Niger, la faim menace la population (In the Niger Delta, hunger threatens the population) by photographer Sadak Souci. In Bollo, a fishing village on the banks of the Niger Delta, the leak of millions of oil barrels has for decades been destroying soil and water to the point of threatening the population with famine. In the heart of this oil-rich region, home to Africa’s largest mangrove forest, Sadak Souici documents the destruction of this ecosystem and the resulting ruin of the fishermen.
