Triple Body is a study of the body for the curious, a proposal for multiple realities surrounding the topic of the human body (or the art to not choose). The starting point is the fact that the body is the foundation of our perception of the world. It’s the prism through which we perceive the world, it’s a way to understand it, to store it. The body is a necessary reference. The body is the dimension which measures everything, the measurement of all dimensions. To compare the body and something else leads to infinite and timeless possibilities,as the body exists.
Curiosity is a leitmotiv, Holism is a procedure : Curiosity, is the pleasure of finding a state of formidability in all things, and Holism, the desire to know everything that surrounds one thing, in order to understand it. The cabinet of curiosities is a prism to perceive the body, it allows the study of hyper-connectivity inherent in things and the way the human perceives it, to build bridges between different objects.
Triple Body is divided into three books :
- The Body Notions is a theorical Atlas about Human Body Process (process like state between two things), were are collected “authentic objects” or reflexions in close or far relation with body interpretations. This nonlinear ABC is divided in 17 parts announced at the end of the book, like “dead-“, “ideal-“, “mutant-” or “bestial-body”…
- The Body Exhibitions is the book of the graduate. The idea is to fill the 17 boxes who came from the first book. It was an opportunity to explore differents ways of producing images. The last part proposes to develop this book as raw material to produce displays. The spectator can choose by himself how he wants to read the world. Images are used in different ways, their meaning change with their context.
- The third book, the Body Retroactions, my porfolio, is in fact not a porfolio, as it is really a part of my diploma work, where I create anagogic narrations with images mades since the beginning of my production.
The encyclopedic status of all this work is given as position to interpret the world, where suffocation, intelligibility, concentration and interaction are some important ways to communicate and produce a very tense rhythm. To grow with internet made possible this immediate knowledge comprehension, which is for me a kind of Art.
Emile Barret was awarded in 2012 a bachelor degree in Visual Communication, specializing in photography, at the Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne. In 2011 he exhibited at the Photforum Pasquart in Switzerland where he won the Photoforum
