Preview

Harry Benson will receive today the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Center of Photography in New York.In this portfolio, you can find a selection of Harry Benson’s most iconic images shot in the 1960s. Harry Benson came to America with the Beatles in 1964 and never looked back. The award-winning Scottish photojournalist marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the civil rights movement; photographed the Watts Riots; was embedded in the Gulf War; was next to Robert Kennedy when he was assassinated; and has photographed the last twelve U.S. presidents from President Eisenhower to President-Elect Trump, as well as countless luminaries including Sir Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Kate Moss, and the British royal family, including a private sitting with Queen Elizabeth II in Buckingham Palace.

“Harry Benson is one of the most ubiquitous photographers in modern photojournalism. He has created more eloquent portraits of personalities than imaginable. When I think of Harry, I am reminded of myself in younger years as a fanatic of the camera.” – Alfred Eisenstadt
