Griffin Art Projects presents Christos Dikeakos: The Collectors. The show features more than 40 portraits and photographs captured over a decade of research and countless visits with influential figures from British Columbia and beyond, revealing the inside world of collectors and their collections.
Dikeakos adds: “I wanted the particular personality of each collector to be evident, beyond the practical relationship of the photographer and the collector and the objects. I personally know most of the collectors I shot, and this level of familiarity was important as I began looking for their unique gestures and expressions that could animate their portraits. These photographs are not the result of a professional obligation, but a desire to capture the relationship with their collection. Through this series, I wanted to ask the question: Is a serious collector transformed by their collection? It’s something I’m still looking to discover the answer to.”
