Getty Images is pleased to announce the 2015 winners of the Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography at Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan. The 5 winners are Javier Arcenillas (Latidoamerica), Souvid Datta (Sonagachi: Vanishing Girls), Matt Eich (Sin & Salvation in Baptist Town), Salvatore Esposito (What is Missing) and Mojgan Ghanbari (Zanan). Getty Images has been supporting photojournalists and original creative projects, and has invested more than $1.2 million in the grants program. The venture was launched in 2005 for the purpose of fostering a world of more striking images, offering photojournalists and original creative artists opportunities to raise awareness on social and cultural issues.

Souvid Datta : Sonagachi, Vanishing Girls
Sonagachi in Calcutta,is the second largest trouble district in Asia, a real maze of colored narrow streets that shelter organised mafia gangs , trafficants and victims. Reporters and and foreigners are not welcomed in this area where politicians and policemen are corrupt and complicit.
Matt Eich : Sin & Salvation in Baptist Town
In the US Heroin has made a comeback these last few years , this drogue is specialy prevalent in Ohio. In 2010 , 315 death linked to the use of heroin were recorded,In 2012 this number went up to 725. The state created new laws to penalise more strongly the drogue trafficants and had new ideas for prevention .However the statistics show that the use of heroin is growing.
Salvatore Esposito : What is Missing
The project explore the complexity of the social strata in Naples , showing the history of the city thru the analysis of the weakest and the poorest.the work is realised with a will to show the negligence of the ruling class in Naples.
Mojgan Ghanbari : Zanan
Iran with a population of 77 millions is the third most populated country in the middle east , with 50% women, 60% are less than 35 years old.Profound changes were made after the islamic revolution of 1979 , that had significant consequences for the life of the women in Iran new legal and religious rules gave more restrictions making their everyday and working life more difficult and also abolished some of their rights.
