In the 1990s, I launched a series of portraits under the label “Voyage aux pays de l’Homme” (Journey to the Lands of Man).
This work spanned almost 10 years, during which I met, and especially made portraits of, Kings and Queens, Men of God, Heads of State, Dictators, great artists, champions, movie stars, and top models.
These photographs have been published in Life Magazine, Stern, the Sunday Times Magazine, and Paris-Match. These portraits toured the world, and Pierre Cornette de St. Cyr, a renowned auctioneer and promoter of photography’s inclusion in the art world (taking it out of the documentary photography category), placed them for auction. Collectors snapped them up, and thus I transitioned from the world of journalism and documentary photography to the art world with an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in 2007!
