Galerie Rachel Hardouin : Fred Atlan

Preview

The Galerie Rachel Hardouin has just closed an exhibition dedicated to Fred Atlan. He wrote this text:

“I assisted renowned photographers after leaving high school and during my university years. I silently accompanied them to Paris. During this journey, I observed the shaping of light and shadow, the creation of the underlying life. That is the kind of soil I like. I’ve been shutting myself away for over ten years and creating ephemeral installations on my living room table, of which photography is the only witness. I work in the opposite direction to the photographer who goes looking for images for a subject and comes home with a trophy. I find my nourishment in everyday life. I work on my compositions with whatever comes to hand: a sheet of tissue paper, a damp cloth, a piece of cardboard, string, foliage, a deflated birthday balloon left on the ground… I breathe new life into society’s rejects.” They become both installations and sculptures. In this way, I create archaic landscapes, shelters, fragile dwellings.”
