FOTOGRAFIA – International Festival of Rome

Salvatore is the title of Lorenzo Maccotta’s personal show in Rome curated by Giovanna Calvenzi. He is one of the young talent presented in this 10th edition of the festival. Son of two Italian emigrated abroad, Lorenzo Maccotta bases his work for the Festival on a journey, made with his father, to the places of his migration story.

Starting from Tunisia, where his family lived from the end of 19th century until sixties; then Pantelleria, his native island whose traces are lost; to conclude Rome, the homecoming city where he finally arrived. These are the passages of his own personal path, undertaken to get acquainted with his family story and himself.

Lorenzo is a photojournalist, who works for L’Espresso and other magazines. Having graduated in Philosophy, he explored the immigration issue in Italy in 2004. His publications in reports, magazines, books and web sites resulted from his collaboration with Doctors without borders.

He first moved to Barcelona in 2007, then to London, whereas today he lives in Rome.
