The Archivio Fotografico Italiano (Italian Photography Archive) has dedicated years to the promotion and circulation of art photography, design, and research development aiming to valorise the visual, historic, and contemporary heritage with the goal of enriching the quality of its collection.
The subjects are varied: journalistic reporting, portraits, art photography, with a particular attention to historical photographs. To date, the majority of projects have led to exhibitions and book publishing , presented at the European level. The AFI is collaborating with government organizations, private archives, schools, and colleges, offering classes and training on teaching and managing visual property, from the point of view of preservation and cataloguing, while promoting the collection.
The start of a series of publications has permitted the AFI to participate in the promotion of Italian photography and authors represented in areas reserved to qualified players and lovers of photography and art.
