Born in April 1995, the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie enters its 23rd year of sponsoring young photographic creators and continues to support the work of its Laureats with a 5th stage in the Tour and help in the production of presented works from the last exhibition, whilst instilling momentum into the winners.
The annual contest is open from September until end of October for all photographers who have never published a monograph, regardless of age or nationality.
Each year, an artistic advisor is elected to bring a new perspective to a preselection of a dozen candidates. This is then presented to an Executive Committee who choose the 2 laureates.
Raphaëlle Stopin, Artistic Advisor 2018, selected 12 photographers to present to the Executive Committee who whose the 23rd Laureates of the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie: Antoine Bruy (French, born in 1986) and Petros Efstathiadis (Greek, born in 1980).
The President of the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie and the members of the Executive Committee have exceptionally decided to award an additional a special Prix Joy Henderiks in memory of her contribution and dedication to the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie. The Prix Joy Henderiks has been awarded to Olivia Gay for her series « Envisagées ». A donation will be made for her next project and HSBC France will purchase one image for their Photography Collection.
