As part of the Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA program, the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) will present Point/Counterpoint: Contemporary Mexican Photography , featuring work by nineteen contemporary Mexican photographers, who explore recent, and often difficult, political, economic, and social realities of contemporary Mexico. Featuring more than one hundred works created between 2000 and 2015, including individual photographs, groupings of works, installation pieces, and videos, the exhibition will be organized by themes, including abstraction, irony, otherness, and pain, and will challenge audiences to reconsider expectations of photography in Mexico during this period.
Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA is a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles. Led by the Getty, Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA is the latest collaborative effort from arts institutions across Southern California.
