Every year, the Planches Contact Festival promotes young photographic creation through the Tremplin Jeunes Talents programme. Five photographers are selected by a jury of image professionals to benefit from a creative residency in Deauville and specific support. Applications are open for the 2022 edition of the festival until 5 January 2022.
The Planches Contact Young Talent Springboard selects five photographers at the beginning of their careers for several weeks of creative residency in Deauville, during which they work on a personal project linked to the Normandy region, with a view to an exhibition to be presented at the next edition of Planches Contact. The five participants will be awarded a grant to produce their series and will be accompanied in their journey by the festival team.
They will also compete for the Jury Prize and the Public Prize of Planches Contact.
Supporting emerging photographers has been in the festival’s DNA since its creation and is growing every year, offering a significant amount of visibility to their work. For the first time, the festival is also open to video projects.
During their residency, they will also benefit from the simultaneous presence in residence of the festival’s guest photographers, as well as from the advice and support of the artistic direction. The five candidates will be selected on the basis of a dossier. A note of intent, as well as a portfolio of previous work, constitute the application file to be submitted to the Planches Contact jury.
The five winning photographers will receive a grant of 4000€, dedicated to the creation and production of the work that will be exhibited in the autumn of 2022. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the festival. At the end of the exhibitions, a selection of five photographs will join the collection of the Franciscaines and the City of Deauville.
