From the Second Empire to the Great War, the high international society takes its winter quarters in the palaces of Menton to enjoy an eternal spring. The book presents the historical, social and scientific context that led to the construction of these exceptional architectures; twenty-two monographs provide an unparalleled panorama of this ensemble designed by famous architects such as Hans-Georg Tersling from Denmark, Niçois Joseph-Albert Tournaire and Mentonnais Abel Gléna and Alfred Marsang. It also evokes the elegant hotel gardens in which local species and acclimatized exotic plants rub shoulders.
