Wessel + O’Connor Fine Art gallery is pleased to present in a new location, a solo exhibition of work by Derek Mohr.
Mohr is an American landscape and portrait photographer from Bucks County PA whose photographs are developed and printed by hand. His pictures are made using nineteenth-century chemical recipes and photographed with period wooden view cameras and brass lenses.
He uses a wet plate collodion process to shoot tintype, ferrotype and ambrotype portraits and landscapes. The collodion process requires that the plate be coated, sensitized, exposed and developed within a span of fifteen minutes. This requires the use of a portable darkroom in the field.
During the opening and on select days, the artist will install a make-shift Studio in the gallery for commissioned portrait sessions, which can also be arranged in advance or by appointment.
Formerly located in Lambertville, NJ since 2010, this will be Wessel + O’Connor’s 7th incarnation in 32 years. The new address is 5785 York Road (a.k.a. Route 202) in the Courtyard at Lahaska complex directly across from the entrance to Peddler’s Village (for GPS direction, please use “New Hope, PA”).
Opening Reception: Saturday, December 2, from 6 – 8 PM
Gallery Hours: Thursday-Sunday from 12–5 PM
