The Planches Contact Festival unveils the first artists who will inaugurate its 2026 creative residencies, as part of its 17th edition.
Selected by various juries, the festival today announces the four winners of the Young Photographic Creation Prize and the four winners of the photo4food grant.
These eight photographers will be the first to focus their lens on the Deauville area, developing original works conceived in resonance with the town and its landscapes. Since its inception, the Planches Contact Festival has been based on a founding principle: to offer artists a residency environment conducive to experimentation and creation.
Each year, between February and July, around twenty photographers—both emerging and established—are invited to create a photographic series closely linked to Deauville. These works then take over public spaces, from the Franciscans to the beach and the city center, offering visitors a unique immersion into diverse photographic worlds, presented from October to January.
This year, the call for applications for the Young Photographic Creation Prize was a major international success: 216 photographers from 35 countries responded to the festival’s invitation. The photo4food grant also generated considerable enthusiasm with 214 applications.
Following a particularly demanding selection process, eight artists were chosen to join the residency program.
Among the artists in residence, two categories resulted from a rigorous selection process carried out by separate juries: the Young Photographic Creation Prize, dedicated to the emergence of new voices in contemporary photography, and the photo4food grant, offered in partnership with the foundation created by Olivier and Virginie Goy, which supports cultural and social initiatives. Since 2020, photo4food has collaborated with Planches Contact to encourage creativity and solidarity through photography.
The works will be presented at the Planches Contact Festival, which will take place from October 17, 2026 to January 3, 2027.
