In 1956, David Douglas Duncan, a famous American war photographer for Life magazine, met Pablo Picasso in his villa “La Californie” in Cannes. Henceforth, a real friendship was born between these two geniuses. It will last until the death of Picasso in 1973. The photographs of David Douglas Duncan, become icons of the twentieth century, plunge us in the intimacy, the creativity and the love life of Pablo Picasso and his last companion, Jacqueline. The photographs of David Douglas Duncan are kept at Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas, Austin.
