“Our region suffered greatly from wildfires this summer. With respect and humility, we wish to organize a photographic exhibition featuring everyone’s accounts.
We have collected photographic and video expressions related to the fires. Giving everyone complete freedom, the subject matter can range from reportage, based on their experiences on the ground, to collected and illustrated testimonies, or even artistic works.
We envision four sections for the documentary exhibition, which will be held at the Galerie du Lavoir: the fire, the fight against the fire, the devastation, and the resilience. Simultaneously, a large exhibition at the Grand Foyer will showcase the work of artists who have focused on the fires, offering their perspectives and expressions, and perhaps, in a way, believing that beauty can save the world.
This event will be the inaugural exhibition at the Galerie du Lavoir in Capendu, made possible by the Aude department’s participatory budget. It may also be shown at other venues throughout the department.”
The opening of the double exhibition is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Galerie du Lavoir, at 6:00 PM.
The double exhibition will be presented in Capendu and is organized by Objectif Image 11 Alaric in collaboration with GRAPh-CMi, and with the support of the city of Capendu and the Aude Department.
