African photography does not exist !?
This is the kind of sentence where punctuation makes sense. It has the merit of posing the question of the identity, diversity and potential specificities of contemporary African photography. Should we talk about African photography or photography in Africa? What place does photography occupy today in contemporary African societies? What are the methods of appropriation and the social uses? What is the status of the photographer? So many questions that punctuate the conversations of several speakers with atypical profiles: institutional, journalist, artist, writer, … cross their eyes and their experiences and discuss modes of practice and dissemination of photography on the African continent. Such an invitation to a first trip, between continent and diasporas, focus on photography in the Maghreb and francophone black Africa.
Among the guests: Alban Corbier-Labasse, coordinator of the Africa and Caribbean program in creations at the Institut français, Soro Solo, journalist at France Inter, Baudouin Mounda, Congolese photographer …
This workshop will be moderated by Philippe Guionie, photographer, teacher and director of the Residence 1 + 2 in Toulouse.
