European Press Review

Preview

I wish you all a lovely year in pictures, wherever you may find them.

This first press review is very meteorological, somewhat animal, slightly political and highly anecdotal. It looks like we’re off to a rough start. Perhaps the world’s editors are still hungover from New Year’s Eve. The misfortunes of this world only seem to come our way by chance, discreetly.

Too much space is given to celebrities, the wealthy and lottery winners. That’s what the ads are there for. A Maserati offers an “elegant performance” while a Porsche will bring you a “life intensified.” Rich life is rich and fast. And poor Shumi, who cracked his skull during a skiing accident. It makes one think.

From this week I’ll remember a wonderful photograph of Ms. Marina Ginesta. She was seventeen and fighting against Franco’s fascist regime when this photo was taken. Mrs. Marina Ginesta passed away at the age of 94. One can fall in love with a photograph.
Happy new year.
