In October 2018 Hurricane Michael heading north into the Gulf of Mexico made landfall on the Florida Panhandle at the sea side town of Mexico Beach. With winds of 155mph and a storm surge of 20ft. it leveled the entire town. The damage estimate may exceed $12 Billion for a residential population 1,072 people.
