Free-lance Shepherd
Anaïs is 28 years old, in 2023, she chooses to become a freelance shepherdess.
Far from the archetype of the shepherd, she herself represents this new generation of women, neo-rural, modern and feminine.
Anaïs, a young woman from Lyon living in Marseille, finally decides to take the plunge and become a herdsgirl. An idea that she has kept in the back of her mind since she was very young. After her high level studies, an experience in a startup in the environment and after a first transition in catering, it was after the health crisis that the idea of becoming a shepherdess resurfaced, in particular following the adoption on a resale platform, of a young border collie dog, Tess.
Since the 2000s, a wave of young people, lacking bearings and in search of another destiny, graduates and without direct agricultural heritage have invested the high plateaus. In 2020, the trend is intensifying, driven by young urbanites who are bored with cities or in search of meaning, especially women, who represent more than a third of summer pastures today.
Since the end of 2023, Anaïs has been working as a herdsman. She is the complete opposite of the cliché of the isolated and marginal shepherd. She is a fulfilled, sociable, flirtatious and urban young woman who simply wants to practice a more concrete profession, rooted in reality and as close as possible to animals and nature. Follow her in her first steps as a shepherdess and her very first experience in summer pastures.
