Penùmbra

Penùmbra outlines a visual journey to explore the profound bond that connects two individuals, reaching as far as the symbolism of birth. It interjects itself into the dilemma of the very essence of humanity and delineates a path of analysis leading to the theme of birth, symbolically represented as the tangible fruit of this bond.

Through a visual narrative composed of aesthetic and evocative fragments, the author proposes to analyze the complexity of human relationships with the instincts that manifest themselves in the dynamics of real life.

In Penùmbra, the roots of the research are embedded in the most ancient artistic testimonies, such as cave paintings, which, in the context of the proposed images, act as a bridge between contemporary humanity and its ancestral origins. Using a symbolic language, these representations attempt to depict a timeless vision of life and death in human relationships, underlining the atemporal universality that is mostly unresolved in these fundamental experiences.

The artist seeks to introduce into the project a plurality of concepts drawn from different cultures of belonging, seemingly opposite but which coincide in a unique, well-distinguishable version full of spaces where it is still possible to question oneself and therefore not associable with a philosophical or religious manifesto.

Standing out between Western and Eastern cultures are the concept of “wu wei” (based on the awareness of when to act and when not to act), which forms the basis of the visual narrative, and gives space to the instinctiveness experienced in particular moments, restoring a gaze in search of authenticity on the nature of human existence and relational dynamics.

Through evocative and symbolic images, the project invites the viewer to reflect on the intrinsic meaning of the couple’s bond and of birth, exploring the complexity of these experiences through an artistic and philosophical lens. At the heart of Penùmbra lies an invitation to contemplation and reflection on our deepest essence, on the nature of love, and on the mystery of life itself.
