As part of the founding principle of the Planche(s) Contact Festival, Deauville welcomed ten students from European photography schools, a selection based on their portfolios and an interview, for a ten-day residency program (from Tuesday, June 21 to Friday, July 1, 2016). Each student received the same production envelope and were given Deauville as subject. It is their individual creativity, imagination, and photography that are going to make a difference before the panel of judges and the public. Their work is exhibited throughout the festival and submitted to a jury composed of prominent figures in photography headed by Bettina Rheims. At the end of the festival, all the photographs made during the residency will be entered into the public photography collection of the City of Deauville. This year, the Louis Roederer Foundation Prize was given to Linda Laird and the People’s Choice Award to Vincent Marq.
Awards:
> The Louis Roederer Foundation Award is bestowed by the Planche(s) Contact jury. A grant of €5,000 and a commissioned exhibit for the 2017 edition of Planche(s) Contact are awarded to the winner. Goes to Linda Laird.
> Attributed for the second consecutive year, the People’s Choice Award carries a grant of €3,000. The two winners will be also invited to a three-day residency in summer 2017, in Reims, at the headquarters of the Louis Roederer Foundation, the founding partner of the Planche(s) Contact Festival.
