The Penguin Pool
The Penguin Pool at London Zoo was designed by the pioneering architect Berthold Lubetkin in 1934.
His creative design is a magnificent example of modernist architecture.
The organic reinforced concrete structure was innovative for its time and cherished by visitors for many years.
Nowadays it no longer accommodates penguins but it is preserved and appreciated for its cultural and architectural value.
In this series, I want to underline my inspiration for Lubetkin’s design, its simplicity, functionality, and harmony with nature.
