“Origins” series 2017-2020
This series is composed of 14 images inspired by Greek mythology and literature.
Each image is an allegory showing a character in osmosis with a luxuriant nature. It is our cultural origins, stories and tales that have shaped our culture: Juno and Jupiter, Prometheus and Daphne have been the sources of inspiration for many centuries. Nature is also of our Origins, we are of nature, we come from it and we will return to it. It is therefore from these cultural and primary, bodily origins that I want to evoke here. My heroes or heroines represent the origins of humanity, a time when man was in fusion, in harmony with nature, a period undoubtedly lost forever.
These images were created in the studio with live model shots. The printed images were crumpled, in order to transform the photographic reality and create vibrations. Re-photographed, they are worked on computer.
Each image is printed by the Picto laboratory, on Hahnemulhe Etching Museum paper, then laminated on metal. Two are printed directly on canvas (“Fauna” and “Pan’s daughter”).
