Clark and Pougnaud – Eden

Preview

After years of creative activity in Paris, the artists have felt the need to take a break to relax and try the experience of a return to nature. It is in Charente that they found the ideal place to work in total harmony with their environment, immersed in the rural and agricultural world of the region.

From this artistic retreat, they bring back a surprising work devoted to nature. If they have chosen not to show a character in this series, their approach remains the same: staging, photography and painting mingle and take us into their poetic universe.

The rhythm of nature

Clark and Pougnaud painted and photographed according to the seasons and the crops. The Eden series is made up of fourteen “garden photographs”, pieces of life taken from nature, just outside their door, in their vegetable garden, on paths or in bushes. The images come from their immersion in the silence imposed by the winter months, the springtime rebirth and the hyper activity of nature in summer. It supported them throughout the year; they lived at their own pace to understand and represent it.

A season in paradise
To stage an imaginary garden in front of a painted canvas. Paint then photograph from morning to night, as long as the light enters the studio.
Roll the canvas when it was photographed and stretch another.
Look in the vegetable garden, on the paths, in the bushes, shapes and colors so beautiful that they are brought back to the workshop.
To catch some insects, to take from nature small pieces of beautiful lives.
Paint and photograph each day until the October frost in the large open space of an ephemeral photo studio.
