Ancestral Colors
I seek to create images that take the viewer on a journey, tell a story and take them to another place. “Ancestral Colors” is a photograph series that invites us to explore humanity’s ancestral roots through exuberant colors. With tricks of light, shadow and saturation, each image rescues the liveliness of strong tones, establishing a fascinating dialogue between the past and the present. As a stage photographer for many years, “stage” a scene to represent old religions and deities that, for many decades in Brazilian history, were illegal, was something natural. The idea for these series originated in one of my classes with the Master of Color, Walter Firmo. These striking colors transcend generations, uniting us in a web of shared cultural heritage, celebrating the diversity and strength of our origins. “Ancestral Colors” is a powerful tribute to the history and traditions that make us unique and intrinsically connected to each other.
