The Town Hall of the 10th arrondissement of Paris, in partnership with the Ségolène Brossette gallery, presents Trouble in the portrait, an exhibition which brings together four series by photographer Christophe Beauregard produced between 2007 and 2021.
Semantic Tramps (2007) is devoted to desocialization, its images and its media clichés.
It’s Getting Dark (2011-2014) offers a reflection, led by images and gestures, on the veiled body.
Le Meilleur des Mondes (2012) and Why Not Portraits? (2019) track contemporary identity against the backdrop of a culture of narcissism and the standardization of body image.
Christophe Beauregard becomes a mediator: he dramatizes his camerawork, resorts to “staged photography”, even playing with his models, who have become hostages of their own Pictures.
