The latest issue of Camera has an explosive cover. This image by Egyptian photographer Laura El-Tantawy was taken with a Smartphone. She is a champion of “mobile photography” on social networks and a fierce defender of her style. This issue explores several themes related to documentary photography and photojournalism. By comparing her pictures with recent work by Denis Darzacq, reflections by the historian Fred Ritchin, a multimedia project by Jake Price and Greek photographer Petros Efstathiadis, Camera explores new practices in politically engaged photography, the use of new and multimedia technology, as well as the influx of amateur photographers. As with every issue, the focus is on debate, historical background and analysis, while leaving room for the photographs themselves, always printed on high-quality paper. This 7th issue of the historic photo revue, relaunched a year and a half ago, offers readers an iconoclastic view of the medium while identifying its current trends.
