The Centre Atlantique de la Photographie in Brest is presenting a series of photographs by Cyrus and Nicolas Cornut, Le Voyage D’Alberstein, through June 30th, 2015.
Alberstein is a little man in a gray suit and a crushed hat who decides to undertake a journey with his ball in the valley of the Petit Morin, discovering the landscapes, the seasons and himself.
What a strange couple! Are they traveling together or are these two parts of a solitary traveler? Alberstein is a clown. The ball is The Other: a character in itself, a confidant, his partner in this imaginary circus. But it is also an extension of Alberstein, his psychic body, the state of his soul, his existential weight, his worries, a metaphor for his relationship with the world. The ball is his problem and his raison d’être. The relationship is unlikely. Is it also impossible? From the myth of Sisyphus to Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton to us mere mortals, Alberstein is the ultimate absurd hero.
