Luc Chery spent long periods of time in Jerusalem and Palestine from September 2000 to 2004, during what is considered the Second Intifada. His photographs are more than a simple report of the conflict, and they contain not a single scene of clashes, and still lifes, urban landscapes, faces and attitudes are more iconic than descriptive. The metaphorical use of this works subtly suggests the immanence of meaning, like the archeological layers of Jerusalem.
The second part of the exhibition offers a look at the makeshift homes in Palestinian camps, that combine more references to a nomadic and improvised architecture not of their choice.
