Barbara Alper is an amazing street photographer.
She feels little known in Europe and asked us to publish this message, illustrated by a portfolio of her images.
Which we do with pleasure!

The American photographer Barbara Alper has spent fifty years building an archive that is both personal and public, clever and poignant, joyful and serious. A natural street photographer, she has a deep interest in humanity driven by curiosity, wry visual humor, and a strong commitment to justice.
Largely self-taught, Alper’s photojournalism career began in the independent press and later expanded to The New York Times. Her work is included in the permanent collections of major institutions worldwide and has been exhibited numerous times.
In the past four years, Alper and curator Shawn Waldron have revisited her extensive film archive, selecting thousands of previously unseen images. Created primarily between 1976 and 1999, their selections—including those featured here—highlight Alper’s exceptional talent and ability to revisit themes across decades with a fresh perspective.
Alper invites publishers, curators, gallerists, and collectors to contact her about potential projects or acquiring prints.
