Anne has dreamed of opening a gallery since she was a little girl. That’s perfectly natural when your last name is Clergue. Now her dream has finally come true. Her gallery opened in Arles on April 4th, situated between the Place du Forum and the Place de la Mairie. Her first exhibition explores the world of bullfighting with Silencios by Josephine Douet, a work she first saw as a weekend portfolio on L’Oeil de la Photographie.
“I’m familiar with this universe, and know how hard it is for a woman to enter it, and to be such a sensitive and intimate witness,” says Anne. “Josephine gives us a precious gift, a rare view of this occult world. I obviously had to inaugurate my gallery with a bullfighting theme…as a thoroughbred Arlesienne, what could be more natural!”
