The Rencontres d’Arles announces the awarding of a carte blanche to the Rencontres de Marrakech as part of the 2025 edition of the Nuit de l’Année, a major event of their festival. On this occasion, the screening entitled “Discours croisés : Le Maroc regardé, le Maroc regardant ” (Intersecting Discussions, Looking at Morocco, Morocco on the lookout) will be presented.
This project proposes a unique visual dialogue bringing together twenty Moroccan and twenty international photographers. Each artist offers a unique and nuanced interpretation of Morocco, exploring the country both as a subject and as a perspective. The initiative questions the dynamics of intersecting perspectives, deconstructs established representations, and fosters a space for exchange between the collective imagination and individual experience.
Participating artists: Abderrahmane Ajja, Mehdi Ait El Mallali, Aassmaa Akhannouch, Morgane Ahmar, Raj Alaya, Eleni Albarosa, Vladimir Antaki, Stéphane Arnaud, Louisa Ben, Jonathan BerTin, Glauco Canalis, Su Cassiano, Sabrina Charehbili, Ilias El Faris, Nezar El Hjiri, Ali El Madani, Nicola Fioravanti, Jérémy Garamond, Yasmine Hatimi, M’hammed Kilito, Luma Koklova, Jesse Ilan Kornbluth, Seif Kousmate, Hamza Lafrouji, Charaf Lahib, Stefano Miliffi, Gustavo Minas, Greg Mo, Anass Ouaziz, Chantal Pinzi, Eva Radünzel, Mounir Raji, Yassine Sellame, Valentina Sinis, Sonja Stich, Rida Tabit, Maryam Touzani, Regula Tschumi, Julia Wimmerlin, Iman Zaoin.
With this selection, the Rencontres of Marrakech aim to create a space for reflection and creation where photography asserts itself as a shared language, a tool for critical analysis, and a vector for intercultural connection. This invitation encourages us to transcend aesthetic, cultural, and geographical boundaries to discover a plural and evolving Morocco, one that observes as much as it is observed.
The collaboration between the Rencontres d’Arles and the Marrakech Rencontres represents a celebration of photography and a bridge between cultures. Together, they invite the public to explore and appreciate the beauty and complexity of Morocco through diverse perspectives.
Crossings: Beyond Borders
“Crossings” is the next major exhibition of the Marrakech Photography Rencontres. In a world shaped by paths taken and borders reinvented, “Crossings” invites artists to explore the visible and invisible lines we cross, across territory, identity, and time. Inspired by the symbolic spirit of the Green March, this exhibition is a profound reflection on displacement, transmission, belonging, and transformation.
La Nuit de la Roquette : A Collective Celebration
The festivities will continue with a screening evening during Rocket Night, an iconic Arles event known for its community and alternative spirit. These events, spread across three locations in the heart of the city, including the Paul Doumer public square, promise unforgettable moments of discovery and exchange.
