Today, Aperture announces the opening date and program for its new home on the Upper West Side. A permanent location for the iconic photography nonprofit, which has shaped the medium for over 70 years, the 10,000-square-foot space will officially open on September 18, 2026, debuting with the inaugural installation Aperture Loves New York.
Located at 380 Columbus Avenue, across from the American Museum of Natural History and steps away from New York Historical and Central Park, the space designed by award-winning architecture practice LEVENBETTS features prominent street-level visibility and a dedicated ground-floor bookstore; a gallery for intimate photography presentations; and programming and event space designed to welcome both neighbors and its global audience.
Curated by Executive Director Sarah Meister, Aperture Loves New York is a tribute to the photographers who have been shaped by New York and shaped the city in return. Anchored in Aperture’s 74-year publishing history, the debut installation brings together works from an intergenerational roster of iconic artists championed by the organization, including Diane Arbus, Dawoud Bey, Nan Goldin, Deana Lawson, Robert Frank, and Carrie Mae Weems.
