His name is Antony Barroux. He’s 39-years old and every day he updates his photography blog: Pixfan. So far, nothing to write home about.
But there is: Antony lives in Tours and runs this blog all by himself, having left behind his career as an computer scientist. Twelve years ago, he learned how to create a website , when his parents asked him to launch one for their toy store. It was also his first exposure to photography. When his daughter was born in 2006, he set up a website to shares photos of her, which he soon replaced by coverage of the photography world. His hobby became an obsession. Knowing little, he learned quickly. Today, he has 2000 subscribers and maintains the site with almost no ad revenue. He does not know anybody in the photography milieu, and professes an unlimited admiration for Patrick Chauvel and photojournalism in general. Another one of his idols is Dorothy Shoes, another Tours native. On his profile photo, Antony has his eyes closed. When asked why, he lets Saint-Exupéry answer for him: “We only see well with the heart. Everything important is invisible to the eyes.”
