On the occasion of the publication of the retrospective book Journal of a Photographer, the exhibition at PHOTO MARSEILLE # 8 presents the emblematic photographs, richly captioned in the manner of Alain Keler’s eponymous blog.
Alain Keler has been a Member of Agence M.Y.O.P. since 2008. He previously worked for the Sygma and Gamma agencies, and was co-founder of Odyssey Pictures in 1989.
He has reported on conflicts since the 1980s, in Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, the revolution in Iran, the civil war in El Salvador, Chechnya etc. He has also worked on the discrimination against Roma gypsies in Europe. Emmanuel Guibert and Frédéric Lemercier: News of Alain (2011).
He has directed two documentaries: The Last Journey (2014), which tells his family story of convoy number 66 to Auschwitz; and Parias, Roma in Europe (2011).

He has been awarded the Paris Match Award for photojournalism (1986) for his story, “Ethiopia in the rain”, and the World Press Photo in the nature category. In 1997, he won the W. Eugene Smith Award for his work on minorities in the Communist Block. A book issued from this work, Eastern Winds, was published by Marval in 2000. In 2004 he was the laureate of Association 3P in Paris for his project The land of the earth that burns, about the complexity of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
