Utópica, São Paulo, will present Brazilian photography at The Photography Show by AIPAD. Two award winning series by Lalo de Almeida will be on view: Amazonian Dystopia (2022 World Press Photo and 2021 W. Eugene Smith Fund Grant) and Ashes from Paradise (2021 World Press Photo). These photographs not only shed light on the destruction of nature, but also the genocide of the peoples of the forest. Utópica will also highlight works by the renowned Brazilian photographers Alice Kanji, Barbara Mors, Dulce Carneiro and Gertrudes Altschul, four women, that together with the German-Argentine Annemarie Heinrich were part of a famed group of modernist photographers know the Foto Cine Clube Bandeirantes.
