At AIPAD, the gallery will feature the work of Adger Cowans, a founding member of The Kamoinge Workshop; Barbara Morgan, widely recognized for her groundbreaking photographic images of the American modern dance movement from the 1930s and 1940s in particular those of Martha Graham; Chester Higgins, a former staff photographer for the New York Times who portrays the dignity of the African American and African diasporic communities; and August Sander, widely considered the most important German portrait photographer of the early 20th century. On view at AIPAD will be one of his most famous works: known as Young farmers, 1914, the picture depicts three young men standing in a empty landscape, wearing fine suits, hats and canes, and on their way to a dance in a nearby village.
