UNEP is pleased to support this accomplished photography team in this effort, and I hope their work can help to mobilize the global action we need for a sustainable future for the planet and its peoples.” – Achim Steiner, Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP)
About the Act Now! Project
Act Now! is a major photography project to raise awareness on climate change by the award-winning creative duo Braschler/Fischer in partnership with UNEP and UNFCCC. In view of the 21st UN Climate Conference in Paris December 2015, the photographers present influential and trend-setting climate activists in serene and empathetic portraits. In a global effort, well-known activists such as Sir Richard Branson and Vivienne Westwood, show their face to the world and unite in their mission to act on climate change now. By working with internationally re-known magazines with large audiences, such as Vanity Fair, this strong visual message will reach many readers around the globe. The project aims to initiate a large campaign with the objective to raise more awareness for this pressing problem in partnership with the UNFCCC and UNEP.
“Taking bold climate action now has the potential to unleash the full power of business and lift millions of people out of poverty at the same time. We’re the first generation to recognise this and the last generation that will have this opportunity.” Sir Richard Branson, Great Britain, Entrepreneur and Investor
“The migrants are not a temporary crisis. The crisis is mounting. There are many war refugees and three times as many climate refugees. All of them are people who can no longer live where they were born. I hope we face reality in time to save ourselves. We will all be migrants soon.” Vivienne Westwood, Fashion Designer, Activist
