Until October 5, Denis Darzacq is exhibiting at Acentmètresducentredumonde, the contemporary art center in Perpignan.
The exhibition Juste au Corps presents, for the first time, twenty years of photographic research. It is structured around three themes.
The first takes the body as the standard measure for photographic creations, metaphors for the difficulty we all face in finding our place in society. Women and men seek their balance within the frame. These photographs are often staged in real environments, close to documentary.
The second chapter is the result of the artist’s abstract research and an examination of the medium. Can a photograph, like a painting or an abstract sculpture, free itself from its informative function to speak only of itself? These photographs question the materiality and meaning of images.
Finally, the third section synthesizes abstraction and figuration. It gives rise to hybrid and multifaceted works, notably the result of a four-handed collaboration with visual artist Anna Iris Lüneman.
