German publisher Steidl, known for its limited editions, high-end projects and know-how, will be launching in July: Paper Passion, the scent of a “freshly printed book”.
In charge, Karl Lagerfeld and Gerhard Steidl, regular partners in publishing, both attracted to the scent and sensuality of books and known for their obsessive personalities, the designer and publisher have associated with the perfumer Geza Schoen to make a perfume.
Paper Passion, that we haven’t been able to smell or wear, is designed for the luxury market, like a diva’s caprice. It shows how the love of the endangered species that is the book can seem like an archeological passion or that of a medical examiner. We would still like to believe that the time is coming when the scent of the literary season will emanate from the nape of the neck. Karl Lagerfeld, whose life project seems to be present in every scent of the word, his one step closer to achieving his goal.
