Yann Le Pape selected for Luerzer’s 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide. …In his anger, and to avenge mankind, God created the Bigoudens…
« Designer, art director and friend Eric Ciborowski came to me in 2006 with the idea of making portraits of the young men in Brittany, France, in a specific region called Bigouden ‘s country.
He loves this place and wanted to share the rough beauty of it. I was quite excited to take the opportunity to discover the country where my father was born, a place I didn’t know that well, but more than that, it would become my “French West”. These photographs were taken over a three year period, in every season. We enjoyed the rain, the strong wind, the cold and also some delightful moments of sun, looking for faces and places. »
Yann Le Pape
Yann Le Pape is a native Parisian. He began his photography career in 1993 when his portraits were exposed by Aides and the Parsifal association of Paris. In 2001, he began to work for major brands and was recognized with several prizes for his work, including two Bronze lions at the prestigious international advertisement fair of Cannes in 2005 and 2008. Since then, he divides his time between France and the United States. He was recognized in 2008 and 2012 as one of the “ 200 best ad photographers worldwide” by the internationally respected magazine Lürzer Archive. His personal work grows from the people he meets and his sensitivies. In 2007, his series Preachers and skies was distinguished by American Photo magazine in its special edition “Pictures of the Year”. Yann Le Pape’s work cultivates a certain perfectionism tainted by idealism, an ability to capture the moment and create an eternal gap.
