The awards of the international photographic competition La Quatrième Image 2015 were given to Maxim Dondyuk (1st prize), Mathilde Geldhof (2nd prize), Michael Goldgruber (3rd Prize) and Gillian Hyland (4th prize). Winning entries will be exhibited at the International Salon of Photography La Quatrième Image which will take place from October 27th to November 1st, 2015 at the Espace des Blancs-Manteaux in Paris.
1st Price : Maxim Dondyuk (Ukraine)
Dondyuk benefits a three-month residency in the Cité des Arts in Paris, including a scholarship, with the support of the Mairie de Paris, as well as an exhibition at the Salon La Quatrième Image 2015.
His project called “Culture of confrontation” reveals the battles that took place in the winter of 2013 which changed Ukraine. He highlights the oppositions of the Ukrainian revolution: opponents-supporters, shadow-light, both bad and good. He shows the limits of these contrasts in order to express the major confusion that exists in this still developing history.
2nd Price : Mathilde Geldhof (France)
Geldhof wins 3,000 euros as well as an exhibition.
Her five image project was made in the Yishu 8 residence in Beijing. Each image shall be considered a tale whose frame would be the daily life of the people of Beijing, the ambiguity between reality and fiction taking the form of meetings, in places where the strange is unveiled bit by bit.
3rd Price : Michael Goldgruber (Austria)
Goldbruger wins 1,000 euros as well as an exhibition.
His series of photographs called “Fluid Lands” / “Terrains Fluides” highlights a tension between the romanticism of landscapes, the natural spectacle, and the alienation of men over consuming.
Michael Goldgruber keeps stalking the neighborhoods in the center of Austria, where human influence has a strong impact on the landscape without yet altering the beauty of the relationship between man and nature.
Hyland wins an exhibition.
4th Price : Gillian Hyland (Irlande)
Gillian is an image maker. Her past activity in visual industry as an artistic director designer and set designer led her to compose personally every single aspect of her photographs. Her work called “Words in Sight” is inspired by the poetry of emotions, the colors of imagination and symbolism. Using the nostalgia of experience, each image is a narrative exploring the own “self” in society.
