This is one of the most original portfolios received this month from Ruben Natal-San Miguel with this text.
Wave Hill Cultural & Art Center guests were invited to a fine art photo portrait session with exhibiting artist Ruben Natal-San Miguel that took place on Sat, Aug 3 from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. This session was organized as part of the solo photography exhibition Ruben Natal-San Miguel: Nature Finds a Way, in Wave Hill House, and Perfect Trouble: Queering Natureculture, at Glyndor Gallery.
The main idea of this portrait session was to see how the portrait sitters will embrace their contact with the true nature beauty of Wave Hill gardens before or after seeing the solo exhibition by Ruben . Most of them saw the exhibition right after the portrait session which, was a great surprise because they were posing for the first time with a complete stranger . They signed up beforehand but they were surprised with the assigned setting and the photographer. Ruben always finds his subjects . In this case, the subjects found him. This happened on one of the hottest and most humid days of the 2024 summer season but, by the results you can’t ever tell. Nature provided a much needed shelter and comfort . Living in a Concrete Jungle city like NYC ( which it’s known for), the need for green spaces, water and direct contact with nature brings out serenity, humanity and a true sense of belonging.
