Leandro Erlich is famous for misappropriating the usual elements found in urban surroundings in order to create illusory installations altering the spectator’s perception. Bâtiment is a faithful reproduction of a 19th century Parisian building façade. Laid flat on the ground the monumental installation is completed by a huge tilted mirror, hanging in the air at 45 degrees. Through reflections, the spectators move across the decor on the ground, change into real urban climbers. Like a set of Russian dolls, this building within a building evokes the multiple popular, festive, fun and artistic uses that the Salle del Castillo, a central venue at Festival Images 2014 will encounter.
